Sources: WVU To Add Keith Patterson To Staff

West Virginia appears to have its final puzzle piece in place to complete its defensive coaching staff.  Sources confirm to MetroNews that West Virginia is expected to add former Pitt defensive coordinator Keith Patterson to its defensive staff.

Patterson, meanwhile, had just recently been hired on to become the defensive coordinator at Arkansas State under new head coach Gus Malzahn. Patterson took over as interim head coach at Pitt following the departure of Todd Graham to Arizona State following the regular season.  Before his time at Pitt, he served as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at Tulsa.

Earlier in the week, MetroNews learned that Stephen F. Austin defensive line coach Erik Slaughter was also expected to join West Virginia’s defensive staff.  With the addition of Patterson, West Virginia’s coaching staff would be complete for the upcoming season.
