Gyorko Gets To Start For The Padres

For the first time in his young baseball career, former WVU star Jedd Gyorko got to start for the San Diego Padres on Friday during one of their spring training games. The Morgantown native played third base for the Padres and went 0-for-3 at the plate.

Gyorko has been in the Padres’ minor league system for over one year and is ranked as one of Top 100 prospects by Baseball America. He ended last season in Class AA and told MetroNews less than one month ago his goal is to make it to the big leagues by the end of this upcoming season.

So far in spring training, Gyorko has a .214 batting average with one RBI.
