One Injured In Mine Accident

A Wayne County coal miner is still in the hospital after an accident late Tuesday night.

Officials with the state Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training say the victim was a 19-year-old roof bolter who was injured when the drill steel broke as he was bolting the mine top.

It happened at Rockspring Development’s Camp Creek #1 Mine, the Ben Haley Portal in Wayne County after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

As of Wednesday morning, the victim’s name had not been released.
