The ribbon has been cut on the new building for Blue Ridge Community and Technical College near Martinsburg in Berkeley County.
A dedication ceremony was held there on Friday morning.
The site for Blue Ridge is the first in a series of upgraded community college campuses throughout West Virginia.
West Virginia Community and Technical College Education Chancellor James Skidmore says the community college system is growing because of the demand from businesses.
"We had a lot of employers saying, ‘Well, we can’t find skilled people,’" Skidmore told MetroNews Affiliate WEPM Radio in Martinsburg.
"I think that helped and when the Legislature heard employers saying that, they said, ‘We need to do something about that.’"
The Blue Ridge Community and Technical College building includes state of the art labs, a good amount of classroom space and room to grow.
Officials with Blue Ridge say, one day, they hope to have four buildings on campus.
