Detective: Robbery Motive In Charleston Murder

UPDATE More information is being revealed regarding a Monday afternoon shooting at a house on Mary Street that result in the death of one man and the injuring of one woman.

Detectives say Roy Chambliss, 40, of Charleston was shot and killed and Natalie Sprouse, 20, of Charleston was injured.

Lt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston Police Department said it appears the motive was robbery.

According to detectives, the violence all started after a gun deal went sour.

"It appears the day before their had actually been an attempted sale of firearms from the suspects to the victim," said Cooper. "Something went wrong with that deal resulting with the suspects returning the next day and the ensuing violence."

Detectives say Daniel Little, 29, and Jarod Washington, 29, returned to Chambliss’s home the next day and planned to steal money and possibly drugs.

City detectives and State Troopers arrested Little of Charleston Monday night on murder and robbery charges. He was arrested at the Red Roof Inn in Teays Valley.

Police are still looking for Jarod Washington, 29, in connection with the shootings.

"We are still looking for Mr. Washington and we believe he is still in the area," said Cooper. "We ask that anyone
who may have information about his whereabouts to please call us."

Washington is considered to be armed and dangerous.
