A man wanted for his involvement in a Charleston murder earlier in the week has been arrested.
Jarod Washington was taken into custody Friday evening at Exit 36 near Beckley.
Charleston police had gotten reports that Washington was at a house in the 1400 block of Lee Street East earlier in the evening.
Police surrounded the home for several hours before getting permission to enter the home and search for Washington. Washington was not found.
That’s when police got word that he was arrested near Beckley.
Washington is accused of murdering Roy Chambliss and injuring Natalie Sprouse in a shooting Monday at a home on Mary Street in Charleston.
Daniel Little has also been arrested in connection with the shooting and is facing a first-degree murder charge.
Police say Little and Washington went to Chambliss’ home trying to sell him guns. He didn’t want them. That’s when the two men returned the following day and tried to rob Chambliss when it led to gunfire.
Washington is set to be arraigned on charges of first degree murder and robbery Friday night.
