WVU Up to No. 8 in AP. No. 7 in Coaches

West Virginia moved up one spot to No. 8 in the latest Associated Press rankings and climbed to No. 7 in the USA Today coaches poll, released Sunday.

The Mountaineers (2-0) defeated James Madison 42-12 on Saturday and will face Maryland next week in the final nonconference game of the regular season.

Four other Big 12 teams are ranked in the AP poll: No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas, No. 15 Kansas State and No. 17 TCU.

In the coaches poll, the Sooners are fifth, Texas is No. 10, Kansas State is 13th and TCU is No. 16. A sixth Big 12 team — Oklahoma State — is ranked No. 25 by the coaches.
