Marshall doesn’t have much of a choice but to put its gut-wrenching loss to Ohio behind and to move on. Doc Holliday says his team had already moved on Sunday morning when players came to the Shewey Building to watch film and workout.
“We come in on Sundays and they look at the film, learn from it and critique themselves. I thought they were excellent Sunday with their preparation,” Holliday said during his weekly news conference Tuesday.
While Holliday will tell you over and over again there’s no such thing as a good loss, the way the team handled Saturdays narrow defeat showed the character of the team and Holliday says is part of the maturing process.
“The one thing I felt is that there was a lot of hurt in that locker room. I mentioned that after the game. These kids care and these kids want to be good. That’s big. I think we’ll be fine because of it. They are all a bunch of kids that have worked really hard and have a lot invested in it.”
Holliday did not have good news regarding Evan McKelvey who was injured Saturday against the Bobcats. Holliday said McKelvey is scheduled for an MRI this week and could be lost for the season. Tron Martienz’s status is still up in the air but more and more it looks like he too will miss the entire season.
Garrett Scott should be back in uniform this week and the offensive line will hopefully be at full strength.
