Truck Wreck Claims Life In Boone County/Names Released

UPDATE: One person died and another person was seriously injured after a fatal crash in Boone County Wednesday morning on Corridor G.

Police say Andrew Hale was driving his pickup truck near Danville when he lost control and rolled over two times.

Hale and his passenger, Danny Hatfield, were thrown from the vehicle in the crash.

Hatfield was pronounced dead at the scene. Hale was flown to CAMC where he is listed in serious condition.

Police say neither men were wearing their seat belts.

Police believe Hatfield might have fallen asleep at the wheel.

PREVIOUS: One man is dead and another seriously injured after a truck wreck in Boone County Wednesday morning.

Boone County deputies say the driver may have fallen asleep just before losing control of his pick-up truck on U.S. Route 119 near Danville at around 10 o’clock.

Deputies say the truck rolled twice and both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver taken by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center.

Neither victim was wearing a seatbelt.

The wreck is the second fatal accident in Boone County this week. A man died Monday night when his vehicle collided with a large truck along Route 3 on Drawdy Mountain.
