Charleston Police Have Lead In Murder

Charleston Police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found early Wednesday morning in the middle of the road on Charleston’s West Side.

Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper says the man killed was Clinton “Blue” Green, 39, from Charleston. He was shot several times near 924 Main Street before 2 a.m. Wednesday.

“We began our investigation from there at the crime scene and have branched out since,” Lt. Cooper said Wednesday.

“We do have a lead in the case. We’re not releasing any information on the motive or suspect but we do have a lead that we’re working.”

He says law enforcement officers in the area are familiar with Green.

“Mr. Green was known to the Charleston Police Department. He does have a criminal history,” Lt. Cooper said.

Green’s death is the sixth homicide in the Capitol City so far this year.
