Fatal Crash In Brooke County

A Wellsburg woman is dead after a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Brooke County.

Police say the accident happened around 2 p.m. on Washington Pike near Panther Hollow Road, which is less than two miles from Wellsburg.

The woman was airlifted by helicopter to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, according to police. She died a short time after arrival.

The man driving the other vehicle was transported to Wheeling Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition.

The names and ages of those involved have not been released.

The Brooke County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.

Police said excessive speed may have been a factor.
