Switzer with winning TD in All-American Bowl

George Washington running back Ryan Switzer ended his high school football career in dramatic fashion Friday night. Playing slot receiver at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, Switzer caught the game-winning touchdown for the East team with just six seconds to go.

Martinsburg receiver Cedric Brown also played in the game for the East as well. The contest aired on the NFL Network as the East beat the West, 17-14.

“You’re here with the best players in the country, so it’s a good opportunity and a unique opportunity to come here and learn, get some coaching, and continue to increase your game,” Switzer said on the broadcast. “I’ve kind of been using the mindset that I want to have fun, but I’m here to play football and here for this game.”

Switzer a North Carolina commit, figures to play for the Tar Heels out of the slot receiver position.

“They have just a great coaching staff and I fit really well into the offense,” Switzer said. “I’ll be able to have an impact early if I go in and work. The coaching staff treated me first class and I have a great relationship with those guys and teammates as well, so it’ll be a good opportunity for me to have a good career.”

Switzer won the Kennedy Award for a second straight year in West Virginia this past season, while Brown, an Ohio University commitment, helped lead the Bulldogs to their third straight Class AAA state championship.
