Lincoln County woman sentenced for armed robbery

A Lincoln County woman is heading to federal prison for armed robbery.

Morgan Marie Mullins, 28, of West Hamlin was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in federal prison for the 2012 robberies of a West Hamlin bank and a Teays Valley nursing home where she worked.

Mullins previously plead guilty in August 2012 to interfering with commerce by threats of violence, using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and armed bank robbery.

On May 2, 2012, Mullins used a 9 mm pistol to steal controlled substances including prescription painkillers from the Teays Valley Center nursing home in Hurricane. She was employed at the nursing home at the time.

Then on May 22, 2012, Mullins used the same 9 mm pistol to steal $3,003 from the City National Bank in West Hamlin.

Mullins admitted that at the time of both robberies and for the past three and a half years, she has been addicted to oxycodone.
