Pollard resigns from coaching staff

Another vacancy has been created on the Marshall football coaching staff.  Sources have confirmed cornerbacks coach Lytrel Pollard has resigned and to join the staff at his alma mater Southern Miss.

Pollard with join Todd Monken’s staff in Hattiesburg after spending one season in Huntington.  Pollard helped lead Southern Miss to a 9-3 record in 1997, a C-USA championship and a Liberty Bowl title.  He led the team with 114 tackles. 

The Bay Springs, Miss. native has been a successful coach at several destinations.  Prior to Marshall, Pollard served as the defensive coordinator at UT Martin where his unit finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference.  He also made coaching stops at Mississippi College, Memphis and Southern Miss.
