So much for Bob Huggins being pleased with the scrappiness West Virginia showed in an 18-point comeback. Wednesday night’s game at Iowa State still ended in a 69-67 loss, and the coach plans a philosophical shift to smallball after the Mountaineers fell to 8-8 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 play.

Huggs is at his wits end. I can't beleive how terrible our bigs are. Noreen works hard but he's no match for the opposition's athletic ability. Deniz K. has gone backwards and he looks totally lost. Our bigs get in early foul trouble every game, don't play defense, and don't score. How can you possibly win a game when you have to rely on 3 against 5.
On top of that, we can't shoot the ball. It's gonna be a long season (5 to 6 conference wins at best) and it appears it's not going to be a long time (with this group) before anything changes.

not that i'm a great bb guru, but i have been saying for three yrs. that kilicili needs to warm the bench for 80 percent of the game, and Murray just looks overpowered by the opposition. he's talented, but just isn't strong enough to battle or just doesn't want to.
i agree with huggie, go small, use noreen in that lineup and let's see where the chips fall... Noreen and g.browne are the hardest working guys we have.. and now gary is hurt. shame, this guy gives 200 percent all the time.
