West Virginian’s for life are holding a special pro-life educational program Sunday in Bridgeport.

The event is called “40 Years of Roe” and will feature a 90 minute presentation from five experts regarding Roe vs Wade.

“We have five experts and these are people that anybody in the country would love to have come in and talk about, in particular, the negative consequences of 40 years of Roe vs Wade,” said Mary Anne Buchanan with West Virginians for Life.

Roe vs Wade was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court in 1973 which struck down many state laws restricting abortion.

Buchanan said the visiting experts will include among others the Professor and Vice Chair of the OBEY for the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Charleston Dr. Byron Calhoun and Priscilla Coleman, a well known expert on Post Abortion Syndrome.

According to research done by Coleman, women who have had abortions show an increased risk of having future physical and psychological problems.

Following the presentation, those in attendance will be able to mingle with the experts and ask questions.

The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with the presentation starting at 2:30 p.m. Everything will conclude around 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will also be available. It will take place at the Bridgeport Conference Center.

West Virginians for Life, Greer Industries, Pediatric and Teenage Dentistry of Morgantown and the Pregnancy Resource Center of Marion County are sponsoring the event.

    RHY: The pro-abortionists claim that a fetus is not a living person is a terrible argument. Since in medical terms the baby is called a fetus until it is born, do you think killing a 39 week old fetus is wrong? Most rational people do. So if you agree that that is wrong, then you must believe that abortion should be illegal after the point where the baby is able to survive outside the womb, correct? This is where the pro-abortionist's argument breaks down in my opinion, since the age of the fetus to live outside of the womb is a function of medical technology. I'm sure down the road doctors will be able to nurture a fetus outside of the womb for the entire 40 weeks for mothers who aren't able to carry the baby themselves. What will the abortionists' argument be at that point?

    And the argument that women should be able to do whatever they want to do with their bodies totally ignores the fact that they are harming another person's body - their unborn child's.

    The social left in this county spend a lot of time and effort trying to defend people who they believe are 'defenseless', yet ignore the most defenseless of all, the unborn child.

      Neal, good points. Another topic we have discussed in the past is the fact that the father has no choice in the matter. But if the child is born out of wedlock he is legally obligated to provide financial child support. So if the father was consulted and had a say in this argument, some abortions could be stopped. Some I said. So when did the mother acquire this much power? It's ridiculous.

    The Bible tells me God blessed Jeremiah from the womb. And John the Baptist lept in the womb when hearing Mary was carrying Jesus.

    How about about sterilization? I'm all for that !

    You want to know why I think we haven't found the cures we seek for cancer, aids, and other things?
    The one God sent to become the next Jonas Salk or Einstein was thrown in the dumster out back of the abortion clinic !

    I hate to say it but things are getting to a boiling point in this nation and I think in my life we will see another "revolution"

      HMAALLTHEWAY, you hit the nail right on the head. My family is Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, non-denominational, agnostic and atheist. And also multiple political parties. But we all reach a sort of consensus on two things. Abortion rights need to be revisited and revised (in cases of rape, incest, etc) and we will see a modified revolution in some form soon enough. Too much liberal support for those who enter the country illegally taxing our societal fabric and infrastructure, those who do not want to work for a living and earn their happiness, those who cherish athletic scholarships over academics, those who support abortions for women who made a mistake in a relationship and those who continue to support affirmative action which has now leveled the playing field with less qualified personnel and those who acquire grants and other aid that does not need to be paid back since their parents didn't work their butts off for decades to pay for their education. I am a retired veteran with over 30 years service, acquired a Masters Degree without any financial help (except G.I. bill that I earned) and I continue to work to support my family so they have a better chance of supporting themselves and which results in a better citizen and parent. I'm fed up with the freebies to those who simply stay at home and produce more babies than they can afford, those who terminate pregnancies out of convenience, and the illegal immigrants who bring crime and other destruction to our communities. I'm simply tired of all of it!

    I can't believe they have this INSANITY in our state.

    If I had transportation I would be down there protesting it. What a travesty of Christianity, to tell women what they can do with their own bodies, and try to justfy it by denying science.

    Decide for yourself- fine.
    Deny that right to others?
    Not so much.

    A fetus is no more a person
    than is the idea to risk one forming
    - or not even to have that idea.

    Abortions kill a heckuva lot more children than any guns have or ever will. The number is exponential. So tell me, how can you support abortions by choice, not a rape event, but yet be concerned and outraged over mass killing with a gun? Our society is messed up. We should be denouncing both.
