Boys MetroNews Power Index: Week 4

In week number four of the Warner Law Offices MetroNews Power Index for boys high school basketball, Martinsburg stays as the top ranked team by a comfortable margin.

The No. 1 Bulldogs suffered a loss over the past week to out of state Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, 68-59. However, Martinsburg’s strength of schedule kept the Bulldogs (14-2) comfortably ahead of No. 2 Greenbrier East (15-0).

South Charleston moved up a spot to No. 3 overall after improving to 13-1 with a win over St. Albans. Morgantown, meanwhile, tumbled a couple of spots from No. 2 to No. 4 after an upset loss to University in double-overtime. That win for the Hawks, meanwhile, propelled them to No. 10 with a 10-5 record.

Poca saw its ranking fall from No. 12 to No. 14 after a second loss to Tolsia. The Dots were passed by Fairmont Senior as the highest AA team ranked – the Polar Bears come in at No. 12. Bluefield continues to roll as well, coming in at No. 17 as the third highest Class AA team.

Charleston Catholic is at No. 21 overall as the highest ranked Class A team. You can view the complete standings for the entire state here.
