More victims come forward in 40-year-old sexual abuse case

Two more alleged victims of sexual abuse at the hands of a Monongalia County man dating back to the 1960s came forward this week, according to Sheriff Al Kisner

At least five alleged victims now say Frank Snider Sr., 74, abused them when they were children in the 1960s and 1970s.

Snider was initially arrested in early January on multiple counts of sexual abuse and incest.  On Thursday, sheriff’s deputies said they charged Snider with another three counts of sodomy and incest.

Kisner says there could be even more victims.

“You never really know how many there are,” Kisner said.  “You may think there are one or two victims and there are 10 or more.  You just really don’t know.”

Kisner says the case broke after one of the victims saw members of Snider’s family on Facebook.

“After years of going through, what you can imagine, all that torment with having the sexually assault happenings with her, she decided as an adult to come forward and make law enforcement aware of what happened to her,” Kisner said.

Snider is now in the North Central Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.  He was previously on house arrest, but Kisner says he broke conditions of that agreement.
