Shady Spring punter Houstin Syverston officially announced on Thursday night that he had decided to accept an invited walk-on opportunity to play football at WVU. Syverston picked the walk-on invite with the Mountaineers over potential opportunities elsewhere to play on scholarship.

Syverston stands in at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds and has potential to play multiple other positions, including linebacker and fullback. Syverston visited Morgantown and WVU last weekend. He had other interest from Robert Morris and Rutgers.

Glad to see West Virginia kids like Houstin Syverston & Elijah Wellman who bleed Blue and Gold. Too bad not all the in-state kids are as loyal to WVU. Outside of Curt Warner, I can't think of any kids who left West Virginia and had major success playing college ball.
