Morgantown man charged in 2011 murder

Monongalia County Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday charged a Morgantown man with first-degree murder in connection to a 2011 killing.

Thomas Williams, 25, is already in prison on federal drug charges.  He’s accused of shooting and killing Quinton Bolden, 23, in late 2011.  Bolden’s body was found in Cheat Lake on Jan. 31, 2012.

Police say Williams shot Bolden after an argument at an apartment on Bitonti Street.  Deputies said Williams previously indicated he was with Bolden on Nov. 26, 2011.  Williams allegedly told police he dropped Bolden off at the Willey Street Dairy Mart.

After investigating, police found several discrepancies in Williams’ story, according to deputies.  Police argue he picked up Bolden at a store on the Mileground.  The two then went to an apartment on Bitonti Street where an argument erupted that ended with Bolden being shot, police said.

During the investigation, police say they checked the apartment where a large portion of the carpet had been removed.  Kevin Dwayne Jackson, 26, was charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder for allegedly removing the blood-stained carpet.

Jackson pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to one year in prison.  He was released on time served.

Williams was arraigned this week, but bond was not yet set.  He was previously in prison on a federal drug conviction in Pennsylvania.
