A Raleigh County stepfather is charged with murder and his wife with felony child neglect following the death of a two-year-old girl.

State Troopers charged James Green, 23, of Fairdale Saturday after the girl’s death at Charleston Area Medical Center. The girl’s mother, Brandy Smallwood, 27, is being held on child neglect resulting in death.

At 9:23 on Friday evening, police responded to a 911 call of a child falling from the window of a house trailer.

When the Troopers arrived on the scene, they found that the child had been carried to a neighbor’s house by Green. Police later found Green unresponsive in his residence from an apparent drug overdose.

The child, meanwhile, was transported to CAMC Hospital and Green was transported to Raleigh General Hospital. At 2:30 Saturday morning, the child died as a result of the injuries received.

State Troopers say the child’s injuries were not consistent with falling out a window. Green was charged with murder after he was released from the hospital.

The victim has a twin sibling and that child was put into the custody of Child Protective Services.

The Shaken Baby Syndrome and all its "morphs" are the invention of those who do not understand the pathogenesis of bleeding and fractures in children.
Google "Michael D Innis Vitamin K Deficiency Disease " for an understanding of the problem

The child was a little boy, sweet precious boy.

Wanna bet they don't have a job a d are living off of the taxpayers?

Cut off welfare and make trash like this get a job. That will help prevent things like this from happening.

Oh, and tie them to the electric chair.

Wv patriot... I couldn't agree more. Less money to keep inmates incarcerated as well. Stiffer consequences need to be in place.

    • Hersh

The death penalty is more expensive than prison. Besides, this guy needs to suffer anyway, not a quick outlet. Just wait 'til the other inmates get ahold of him.

BS. --That's because all these poor bleeding heart liberals think everyone. EVEN BABY KILLERS HAVE RIGHTS. There is no way a guilty verdict should be followed by mandatory appeals, waiting periods, etc.... The first or second stop after the hammer dismisses court should be the oak tree out front. I know rope ain't cheap, but ya can reuse it.

    Bring back the death penalty.

I agree bring back the death penalty. At least we could get rid of some of our ignorant population. These crimes really upset me. People do not care and are not smart enough to take care of puppies much less precious babies. The bad thing is because of our wonderful judicial system (and it is) some wonderful lawyer will have to waste their time and get these people off on lesser charges.
