Marcellus finally joins WVU signing class

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — West Virginia on Friday finally announced the addition of Immokalee (Fla.) running back Jacky Marcellus, more than a week after he signed his letter-of-intent with the Mountaineers on National Signing Day.

Marcellus, rated a three-star recruit by Rivals, Scout and ESPN, becomes the 26th official member of the 2013 signing class. The No. 18 all-purpose back according to Rivals, Marcellus is a 5-foot-8, 175-pounder who missed more than half his senior season with a knee injury. He ran for 374 yards and two touchdowns and caught 25 passes for 251 yards and two TDs before undergoing season-ending surgery.

As a junior, Marcellus ran for 691 yards and 10 touchdowns and made 34 receptions for 747 yards and seven touchdowns. Following his junior season, he was selected running back MVP of the National Underclassmen Five-Star Showcase in Orlando.

Marcellus, who could play tailback or inside receiver at West Virginia, chose WVU over offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.
