Fire tears through Morgantown home

A Morgantown couple and their one-year-old child escaped a fire in Sabraton Monday evening.

The fire broke out at about 4:40 p.m. Monday.  Flames were visible out of the home on Montrose Street.

“We’re really not sure what started the fire,” said Capt. William Rinehart with the Morgantown Fire Department.  “The occupant was home and just putting her baby down to sleep.  She saw flames, got the baby and called 911.”

No one was hurt, Rinehart said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  On Monday, Rinehart said it was too early to determine the cause of the blaze.

The family also had four animals that made it out safely.
