Erik Estrada travels with ‘Finding Faith’

Erik Estrada, the star of the 1970s television show “CHiPs,” is visiting churches in West Virginia to promote his new film, “Finding Faith.”

The movie is based on the true stories of law enforcement officers who are part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including several State Police troopers from the Mountain State.

Estrada says it is a family friendly film that’s meant to educate parents and children about Internet safety.

“When a child loses innocence, they never get it back.  They go through life dysfunctional.  It’s hard for them to get their life back,” Estrada said of the effort on Friday’s MetroNews Talkline.

Estrada left a job as a law enforcement officer in Indiana to move to Bedford County, Virginia to work with Sheriff Michael Brown, the Executive Producer of “Finding Faith” and founder of the Safe Surfin’ Foundation.

He says he was enraged when he saw what was happening to kids online.

“How a child’s innocence was taken by an online sexual predator.  They groom the children.  They groom them online.  They talk to them, get friendly with them and everything and then they come and they take them,” Estrada said.

The film will be shown at the following churches in West Virginia:

Friday, March 1st – Chestnut Ridge Church, Morgantown – 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 2nd – Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Hurricane – 5 p.m.

Sunday, March 3rd – South Parkersburg Baptist Church, Parkersburg – 6 p.m.

Monday, March 4th – Kirby Assembly of God, Rio – TBA

Thursday, March 7th – Calvary Assembly of God, Beckley – 6:30 p.m.

Estrada is scheduled to be part of all of the showings.
