A Core woman died after a two-vehicle accident on the Mason Dixon Highway Monday morning, police said.

The 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her name was not released because police were still notifying the family.

Police say the accident happened at about 7 a.m. two miles east of Blacksville.

The victim was driving a 1999 Buick Century in the westbound lanes when she crossed the center line and hit a 2008 Toyota Highlander head on.  The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Lisa Jo Statler, 36, of Wanna.  She was taken to Monongalia General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither vehicle had any passengers.

The accident remains under investigation.
