U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller will be holding a media hearing Monday to discuss the impact of violent video games and other forms of media violence on kids.

During the hearing, which starts at 1:45 p.m., Rockefeller will be examining the issue with a group of concerned parents, teachers, mental health experts as well as national advocacy groups and representatives from the video game industry.

Rockefeller is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and has introduced legislation called The Violent Content Research Act of 2013.

The bill directs the National Academy of Sciences to conduct a comprehensive study and investigation into the connection between violent video games and violent programming and harmful effects on children.

The hearing is scheduled for Monday at the RCB Health Sciences Center in Martinsburg.

I wouldn't be surprised if he labels Fox News as violent media and tries to ban it. It would fall in line with how he's represented WV from the beginning.

Rocky, please go to your suburban VA home, put another log on the fire, sit back in your 16th century arm chair and relax.
Please do not take your job as a representative of West Virginian's seriously and please do not tackle any issues of importance or significance. If you follow these steps, West Virginia will name roads, bridges, schools and federal buildings after you.

It's also nice to know that he voted in favor of the U.S. joining the UN Arms Trade Treaty. which would significantly impact our Second Amendment rights.
While it was defeated, it shows exactly where his intentions lie.

Remind me which “state” the carpetbagger represents? The state of confusion, disillusion, or vegetative? Or is it all 3?

  • wvman75

For that carpetbagger, it's all for show. He's about supporting the national liberal socialist party he's a part of. They will never attack the societal ills that really cause the violence in our society.

    • wvman75

They're too busy attacking our liberty and Constitutional protections.

This research needs to also focus on mental health and the influence of psychotrophic drug on children and young adults. There seems to me to be an interaction between these factors resulting in the mental state that leads young males to commit mass killing.
