Huntington man killed in fire

Investigators in Cabell County are working to determine what caused the fire that claimed the life of a Huntington man on Saturday morning.

Huntington fire officials say Joseph Martin, 87, from Huntington was unconscious when firefighters pulled him from his burning home on Madison Avenue, but he later died at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

It happened at about 11 a.m. Saturday on Huntington’s West End.

A firefighter suffered a burn injury to a hand while fighting the flames.

Reports indicate four puppies, part of a litter of five, died in the blaze.
