A Mercer County Grand Jury will next consider the case of a Bluefield woman who is accused of killing another Bluefield woman during a fight about a school bus incident involving their kids.
On Friday, Judith Kowaleski, 42, was in front of Mercer County Magistrate Jim Dent for a preliminary hearing on a first degree murder charge.
She is accused of fatally shooting Elizabeth Slagle, 42, once in the chest on the night of March 28th on Nichols Road in Brushfork.
State Police say the young daughters of Slagle and Kowaleski were good friends, but they had gotten into a kicking fight on the school bus earlier in the day and the two adults started exchanging words about what happened through text messages.
Troopers say they agreed to meet, along with Kowaleski’s aunt, and that is when Slagle was shot. Slagle reportedly had a taser she was attempting to use on the two others at the time.
The case has now been bound over to the next Mercer County Grand Jury which meets in June. Kowaleski will remain in the Southern Regional Jail, without bond, until that time.
