Morgantown student wins state Geographic Bee

A Morgantown 7th grader will represent West Virginia in this year’s National Geographic Bee in Washington D.C.

Andrew Christy from St. Francis Central in Morgantown, is the first place winner in the 2013 West Virginia Geographic Bee held Friday at Concord University.

Andrew competed against approximately 75 4th through 8th graders from across the Mountain State to win the competition for the second year in a row. He won last year as well.

Hunter Moore, a 7th grader from Clarksburg, representing South Harrison Middle School won second place in the event and third place went to Keith Skaggs, a 7th grader from Taylor County Middle School in Grafton.

Andrew will next represent West Virginia in the 25th annual national competition in Washington, D.C. May 20-22.
