Beckley event features four WVU signees

BECKLEY, W.Va. — The future of the West Virginia basketball program will be on full display Saturday, April 13 at the Beckley Convention Center, when four Mountaineers signees in this year’s class take part in the 24th annual Scott Brown Classic.

“There’s a lot of talent and this is the first time we’ve gone national and brought players in,” said tournament directer Bob Bolen. “We’re just real excited to have all four WVU signees on the same team. That’s going to be exciting.”

This year’s format will have the Class A all-stars facing the Class AA all-stars at 4 p.m. That will be followed by the national game, which will feature WVU signees Devin Williams, Elijah Macon, Brandon Watkins and Morgantown High’s Nathan Adrian.

Martinsburg forward Donte Grantham, who has several Division I offers and is drawing interest from WVU, will be a part of that team as well.

Among the other Division I signees featured in the contest will be Travon Landry (Tennessee), Moses Kingsley (Arkansas) and Dominic Woodson (Baylor).

“This all-star game has always been competitive,” Bolen said. “Having the four WVU signees on the same team — they’re not wanting to have their first game in the state as a loss. And the talent level on the other team is tremendous. There are eight kids in the game 6-foot-7 or bigger.”
