MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU sophomore left-hander Harrison Musgrave has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association national pitcher of the week for his shutout victory at Texas.
Musgrave led the Mountaineers to a 1-0 win last Friday, allowing six hits in the complete-game effort. Musgrave struck out nine and walked just two. He retired the Longhorns in order in the first, second, sixth and seventh innings.
Musgrave is 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 10 starts. Currently riding a five-game winning streak, he has yet to lose in Big 12 play, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and striking out 31 in 28 innings.
This is the first time a WVU player has earned an NCBWA distinction since 2010 when Grant Buckner was named the national hitter of the week May 10.
Musgrave’s next start is schedule for Ftiday when WVU opens a three-game series against Kansas in Beckley.
