D.D. Scarver leaves The Herd

D.D. Scarver averaged 11.9 points per game but will not return for his senior season at Marshall.

Herd fans will need to bring a roster and headshots to the Cam Henderson Center this fall if they want to figure out who is on the court. The turnover in Marshall’s men’s basketball program continued Tuesday with the news rising senior D.D. Scarver had chosen to leave the team.

Head coach Tom Herrion acknowledged Scarver’s departure in a release Tuesday night. Herrion stated that Scarver would “seek other playing options.”

Scarver averaged 11.9 points and started 29 of Marshall’s 32 games last season. Scarver played just a single year for The Herd after transferring from Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College.

“Coming off the end of the 2012-13 season, we knew there would be the possibility of change to our roster and that has been the case over the last two weeks,” said Herrion. “My staff and I are confident about the team that we have in place for next season along with the future additions that will continue to improve our program.”

Scarver is the latest player opting to leave the team. Guard DeAndre Kane decided to pursue other options with his degree already completed and another year of eligibility remaining. Chris Martin also left the team this off season.
