Preliminary hearings set for former UC athletes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Three former University of Charleston basketball players charged in a downtown robbery and beating are scheduled to be in court Thursday afternoon for their preliminary hearings.

Terrell Lipkins, Robbie Dreher and Quincy Washington are slated to be in Kanawha County Circuit Court at 1:30 p.m.

Police said the three men committed the robbery in the 600 block of Virginia Street East in the early morning hours of April 21.

According to police, the victims, identified as Patrick Morrison and Andrew Rude, said the three men attacked them and hit them in the face and head. The men then allegedly went through the pockets of the victims, taking cash and Morrison’s credit card.

Surveillance video obtained during the investigation allowed police to identify the three men who were being held in the South Central Regional Jail. They were dismissed from the UC basketball team and evicted from their campus housing.
