Interim president at Concord University chosen

An interim president has been chosen at Concord University.

On Thursday, the Concord University Board of Governors (BOG) appointed Dr. Kendra Boggess to the position, contingent upon approval by the West Virginia Higher Education Police Commission.

Boggess will fill the opening left behind by Concord University President Dr. Gregory F. Aloia, who announced his resignation on April 24. He has accepted the position of president of the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Ga.

Dr. Boggess is currently serving as Concord’s interim vice president and academic dean (VPAD).

The announcement was made at the Board’s Thursday meeting on the Athens campus.

Also during the meeting, the BOG passed a resolution calling for a 5 percent increase in tuition and fees, and a 1.75 percent increase in room and board. That means tuition and fees will increase $143 per term and a $65 per term increase for room and board for full-time, in-state students.

The increases will take effect with the Fall 2013 semester.

During the BOG’s next meeting on May 11, they will discuss the process of finding a permanent president.
