PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Former West Virginia linebacker Terence Garvin has earned a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers after a mini-camp tryout.
After going unselected in the NFL draft, Garvin becomes the third Mountaineers player to sign a rookie deal with Pittsburgh — joining center Joe Madsen and receiver J.D. Woods.
A converted safety, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Garvin was a 37-game starter during four seasons at West Virginia. As a senior, he topped WVU with six sacks and made 77 tackles. His versatility and ability to contribute on special-teams could give him a chance to stick on the roster through training camp.
