Habitat focuses on women this week

Women throughout West Virginia and across the United States will be getting into the construction work this week as part of Habitat for Humanity’s National Build Week.

“When folks think about the construction industry, it’s pretty well common practice that that is a male dominated industry,” said Evan Zuverink with Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity in Greenbrier County.

“We at Habitat for Humanity believe that everybody comes together, in active partnership, to build and repair homes in their own communities.”

National Women Build Week is in its sixth year.  It started with one home construction site in Charlotte, North Carolina and has since expanded to include 41,000 volunteers in all 50 states.

Those with Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity will be working on a home in White Sulphur Springs from Monday through Friday of this week.

Other Habitat affiliates will be putting women to work elsewhere in West Virginia.
