UPDATE: Deadly roadside accident near Morgantown

UPDATE:

State Police say it will be up to the Monongalia County prosecutor’s office to determine if any charges are filed in the deadly accident that killed Michael Mario Shreiner Tuesday afternoon.

Gregory Riffile was driving the semi that hit Shreiner while he was fixing a flat on a pick up truck along the shoulder of the highway.

State Police say one they’ve completed their report the case will be turned over to the prosecutor for review.

ORIGINAL:

A man, changing a tire along the shoulder of I-79 in Monongalia County was killed when he was hit by a semi.

It happened Tuesday afternoon near the Star City exit. Police say Michael Mario Schreiner had gotten out of the pickup truck being driven by Charles Kennedy to fix the flat when he was hit by the tractor trailer. Kennedy suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The rig was being driven by Gregory Riffle of Ohio. He was uninjured.

The incident remains under investigation.
