The future of natural gas powered vehicles is the focus of this week’s inaugural Appalachian Basin NGV Expo and Conference. It begins Monday night at the Charleston Civic Center.
Hundreds of natural gas and automotive industry professionals from across the United States are expected to be part of the event.
“Now is the time for us to get back in the game,” West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association Executive Director Corky DeMarco said of NGV.
“We’ve got a homegrown source of energy here that we better use, rather than importing 25% of it from places that don’t like us.”
Energy innovators, business leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs will be talking about ways to use the basin’s natural gas supply, within the Marcellus shale, to transform the transportation industry.
Conference participants will get the opportunity to see conversion kits, equipment and compressed natural gas derivative-fueled vehicles firsthand.
The Appalachian Basin NGV Expo and Conference, hosted by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association, continues through Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center.
