Arraignment Thursday for former Point Pleasant Intermediate School Principal

Arraignment comes Thursday morning for a school administrator who forcibly removed a student from a school bus last year.

Cameron Moffett, the former Point Pleasant Intermediate School Principal, will be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. on charges of child abuse causing risk of injury.

The charges stem from a March 21, 2012 incident in which Moffett removed student Zach Plants from the bus. He was 11 years old at the time.

Witnesses stated during a preliminary hearing last April that Moffett came onto the bus to address an incident involving Plants and other students.

When on the bus, Plants refused to follow requests by Moffett to get off. That’s when witnesses said Moffett grabbed Plants and dragged him to the front of the bus where he freed himself and again refused to get off.

After a brief period of time, Plants eventually came off the bus at which time Moffett allegedly grabbed the boy and pinned him to the ground, according to witnesses.

Most of the incident was caught on the buses video camera.

A grand jury meeting in Mason County indicted Moffett on the charges last week.
