One person killed in Fayette County crash

OAK HILL, W.Va. — One person died from a two-car crash in Fayette County Tuesday.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on state Route 61 near Camp Branch Road.

The victim, identified only as a 69-year-old man from Summers County, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police said it appears Jeffrey Hilewitz, 53, of Cannelton, lost control of his car, crossed the center line and hit head-on the vehicle driven by the deceased.

Hilewitz was flown to CAMC General in Charleston. His condition was unknown as the investigation continued Tuesday night.
