Body found in Tug River

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — An investigation continues in Mingo County after the discovering a body Saturday in the Tug River.

So far police have not been able to identify the man. The body was so badly decomposed they’re not sure how long he had been in the water.

Two men fishing near Williamson spotted the body about 15-feet off the bank. The state Medical Examiners Office is conducting an autopsy.

At this point investigators do not believe foul play was involved but they’re waiting on the results of the autopsy.
