Body pulled from Cheat River

ROWLESBURG, W.Va. — Dive teams have recovered the body of a Monongalia County man who went missing in the Cheat River in Preston County.

Police say the body of Jimmy Taylor, 29, was discovered Sunday about a half-mile from where he reportedly got in the river near Rowlesburg. Taylor was camping with his brother, Robert Taylor, 29, over the weekend. Robert told police they were in the river early Saturday morning when his brother was swept away by the current. Robert was going for help when he was involved in a car accident in Kingwood around 2:15 Saturday morning.

Kayakers searched the river all day Saturday then divers found Taylor’s body in a deep hole Sunday.

His body is being sent to the state Medical Examiner’s for an autopsy.
