Logan County woman sentenced in 2009 arson conspiracy

CHARLESTON, W. Va.– A Logan County woman is heading to prison for her participation in a 2009 blaze at a Boone County rental duplex.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s Office, Kimberly Dawn Kinder, 46, of Chapmanville, was sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison Monday for her role in an arson conspiracy.

Kinder previously pleaded guilty in June 2012.

The release stated that Kinder conspired with co-defendant Michael L. White, and her now deceased husband, to burn down a residential rental unit located in Van in September 2009.

Kinder was due to receive approximately $4,000 in insurance proceeds for her role in the scheme.

White was convicted last month for his role in the conspiracy on charges of conspiracy to commit arson, arson and accessory after the fact. He faces up to 27 and a half years in prison when sentenced in August.

Also on Monday, a felon who possessed loaded firearms and heroin at his Huntington residence pleaded guilty to federal charges.

On February 25, Obadiah Pacely, 45, of Huntington, sold heroin to a confidential informant working in cooperation with law enforcement, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s Office. A search executed at his residence also revealed a loaded pistol, a loaded revolver, one .22 caliber rifle and heroin.

Pacely was previously convicted in November 1987 on drug related felony charges in Michigan and in January 2001 in Ohio of felony grand theft of an automobile.

Pacely faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on August 26.
