Train-related deaths remain under investigation

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — A pair of train-related deaths from the weekend remains under investigation in Kanawha County.

St. Albans Police say a man was killed Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a train behind the Gateway Shopping Plaza.

Police identify the victim as Michael Pierson, 55. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

That incident followed another train incident from Friday night in eastern Kanawha County.

Authorities say the victim there was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train near the intersection of Paint Creek Road and state Route 61 in Hansford.
