Greenbrier County Sheriff Jan Cahill said Wednesday there will “absolutely” be additional charges against a Monroe County man in connection with a Tuesday double-shooting in White Sulphur Springs.
Cahill said Henry Wright, 41, of Cove Creek, remains in the Southern Regional Jail charged initially with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators believe he shot Justin Martin, 23, and Brian Brooks, 26, both of White Sulphur Springs, at close range Tuesday evening.
The shootings took place on Tanis Drive.
Sheriff Cahill said his deputies were out in the field Wednesday gathering more information on the case. He said it was too early to discuss a possible motive. He said others could be charged.
Martin and Brooks remain hospitalized. One is in critical condition at a Roanoke, Va. hospital and the other in stable condition at CAMC General in Charleston.
Wright was on probation on a previous conviction that he had failed to register as a sex offender. The probation was revoked after Tuesday’s arrest.
