Dorchester focusing on recruiting camps for WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU faces a couple of important recruiting weekends with camps bringing prospects to campus.

“It’s really your only opportunity to get to work with kids with your own coaches hands-on,” said WVU recruiting coordinator Ryan Dorchester on the MetroNews Statewide “Sportsline” Thursday night.

“You can coach them, spend some time with them and get to know them as players and people too. Most of our camps go four-plus hours, so that’s a lot of quality hours that you can spend with these guys.”

The Mountaineers will host recruits from all over the country for both upcoming weekends.

“It actually kind of surprises me how many guys come up from Florida, Georgia to even Texas,” Dorchester said. “The main focus is from the local areas, I think that’s just natural. But it just takes one school to fall in love with you to get that scholarship. West Virginia has a good name down there and we’re proud of that.”
