Michigan man sentenced for having sex with a minor

CHARLESTON, W. Va.– A Michigan man is heading to prison for having sex with a minor.

According to a release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s Office, Ashlee C. Liebert, 34, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release.

Liebert previously pleaded guilty to the charge in October 2012.

From November 2011 to March 2012, Liebert established a relationship with a 12-year-old minor living in Putnam County, stated the release. During that time, Liebert communicated with the minor through email and cell phone.

According to the release, Liebert had numerous conversations with the minor that were sexual in nature and also exchanged sexually explicit photos with the child.

On March 10, 2012, Liebert drove down from Michigan to Putnam County and engaged in illegal sexual contact with the minor, according to the release.

Deputies in Putnam County found Liebert and the minor in his parked car in Buffalo.

In addition, the release stated that upon searching Liebert’s home in Michigan, authorities found more than 600 images and videos of child pornography on several of his computers.
