Shooting death investigation in Kanawha County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Kanawha County authorities said a man discovered dead Saturday morning near Mink Shoals was apparently shot to death.

“A neighbor saw a person lying next to a dumpster and called 911,” said Corporal Bryan Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. “When paramedics arrived, they discovered the man had been shot numerous times and was already deceased.”

The discovery of Shane Patrick Henry, 26, of Charleston, was made about 8:30 a.m. Neighbors reported hearing what they thought were fire crackers during the night, but nobody reported the incident to 911 at the time.

Henry’s body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. Investigators combed the scene for evidence, but said they have yet to determine any suspects in the case.
