Receiver commits to Marshall

It’s been a busy week for The Thundering Herd in the Southeast, where Marshall has received another verbal commitment.  Wide receiver Alex Cason became the newest addition to The Herd’s 2014 recruiting class on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3,185-pound receiver from Valdosta High School is rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com, while 247sports.com rates Cason as a three-star recruit. Cason had also received interest from Georgia, Cincinnati, Kentucky, UCF and Middle Tennessee State.

Cason will join two former Valdosta teammates at Marshall, linebacker Jermaine Holmes and defensive lineman Jarquez Samuel.

Quarterback Cole Garvin of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga., committed to Marshall on Thursday, just days after Gaffney, S.C., running back Hyleck Foster pledged.
