PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Several thousand West Virginians participated Saturday in the annual effort to cleanup the Ohio River. The Ohio River Sweep took place at 19 sites in 10 different counties.

The state DEP provided supplies and t-shirts to the many volunteers. One of the largest crowds turned out at Point Park in Parkersburg.

The Ohio River Sweep began in 1989.

Maybe, these groups will find some time to clean up the trash along the highways, which by the way is washing into the Ohio and other water ways.
